Chelsea Football Club have announced the signing of FC Basel winger Mohamed Salah for a fee worth around £11million.
The Egyptian international looked all-but certain to come to the Premier League this month, but with Liverpool as they were closing in on his signature and even one of Salah’s team-mates said the deal was 99% complete, but that 1% missing was costly as a late bid from Chelsea hijacked the move completely.
The Blues, who sold Juan Mata to Manchester United, made their move quickly and had a fee accepted and have today formally announced the signing of the 20-year-old.
Jose Mourinho was asked on ITV just before his side’s clash with Stoke City whether or not the deal had been completed and he responded with: ‘Yes it’s all done’.
