He has £25m release clause
Chelsea are interesting in making a summer move for highly-rated 19-year old Spanish defender Jorge Mere.
The defender is a Spanish Under-21 international and is tipped to be the heart of the national side for years to come.
He currently plays his football for Sporting Gijon, and even though Valencia are favourites to sign him, Chelsea are definitely interested.
Mere is under contract until 2020 and has a £25m release clause but it is understood Sporting are willing to sell.
They are battling relegation and could even be forced to accept a lower price if they go down.
Chelsea are looking to further strengthen their defence next season, with Champions League football looking like a certainty for Conte’s team.
It is even possible the Blues could sign the player and loan him back out for a season to aid his development.
