Chelsea interested in Seydou Doumbia

Chelsea are keen on signing CSKA Moscow striker, Seydou Doumbia, after his impressive performance against Manchester City in the Champions League.

The Nigerian international scored twice at the Etihad Stadium to give the Russian side a shock 2-1 victory, and despite a move breaking down over the Summer, Chelsea and Doumbia are both still keen on a move taking place.

Jose Mourinho was keen on the 26-year-old during the pre-season window, but no deal formalised, and he signed Didier Drogba and Loic Remy instead, but it’s reported that there is still interest in the striker.

Doumbia has already scored 16 times this season, and has also caught the eye of Chelsea’s rivals, Arsenal.

It’s reported that Chelsea or Arsenal could sign the striker for as little as ÂŁ15million with Moscow cutting his price-tag by ÂŁ7m due to his ankle injuries.

The Nigerian has constant niggles in his ankles and that could be why no club has made a move for him in the past.

As well as the two London clubs, it’s reported that Brendan Rodgers has been looking at the Nigerian as he is keen to add more firepower to his line-up.

The Reds have struggled for goals recently, especially from their strike-force, and Doumbia could be the man to help Rodgers.
