Chelsea could be set to join Manchester City in the race to sign prolific hitman, Wifried Bony.
The Swansea City striker is in big demand after a magnificent 2014, which saw him bag more goals (20) than any other Premiership striker. Liverpool have also been linked with the big Ivorian in a bid to find someone to take the goalscoring onus off Daniel Sturridge when he finally returns to the Liverpool first team.
City are reported to be leading the way for the 26-year-old’s signature, but Chelsea representatives were also seen at the Liberty Stadium on Monday night to watch Swansea humbled by a resurgent Liverpool performance. Unfortunately for Bony he was rather ineffectual on the night and was substituted before the end.
Bony did pledge his immediate future to Swansea only last month, agreeing a contract extension which ties him to the Welsh club until 2018, however an undisclosed ‘buy-out’ clause remains in place.
It would seem, wherever the hard-hitting 6-footer plays his football next year, he will bring goals. Swansea will be hoping he doesn’t fancy Champions League football next year.
