Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, is keen on signing Atletico Madrid midfielder, Mario Suarez, as the Frenchman’s search for a holding-midfielder continues.

The Gunners boss has taken a lot of criticism this season for failing to sign a defensive midfielder over the Summer, leaving the club with just Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta as their holding options, but with the latter injured, Wenger is now ready to bring in a new face.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with; Morgan Schneiderlin, William Carvalho and Sami Khedira in recent months, but reports have emerged today that Wenger could make a swoop for Suarez, who has fallen out of favour at the Spanish champions.

The 27-year-old, who featured 22 times last season, has struggled for first-team football this campaign, and according to a Spanish journalist, he will almost certainly be leaving the club in the New Year.
