Blues ready to appoint Argentine as next permanent manager
Chelsea have held talks with Diego Simeone’s agent, according to reports.
The Blues are still looking for their next permanent manager, and despite initially ruling Simeone out due to his similarities to Jose Mourinho, it looks like he is still a target.
Roman Abramovich was against hiring the Atletico Madrid boss as his tactics and his man management style was very similar to Mourinho‘s, who was sacked back in December.
However, the owner has seemingly had a change of heart and is now considering the Argentine for the top job at Stamford Bridge.
Simeone’s agent, who is also his sister, had talks with Chelsea and according to reports, officials from the Premier League club informed her that he’s still a top target.
Simeone’s Future Uncertain
The Atletico boss does have a release clause in his contract, which stands at £3.1million, but that could rise before the end of the season depending on how the club performs from now.
Simeone sparked speculation about his future when he admitted that he’s considering his next move, and he even further raised questions when he started taking English lessons.
Antonio Conte and Massimiliano Allegri are believed to be the other two candidates.
