Chelsea are scouting Porto left-back Alex Telles as an alternative to top transfer target Alex Sandro for the left wing-back role.
Head coach Antonio Conte wants to sign a left-back in January to challenge Marcos Alonso’s place in the team and also to give him some much needed rest.
Alonso is currently the only specialist left-back in the entire squad, despite Baba Rahman, who is coming back from injury, and Kenedy who is not a specialist left-back.
Conte remains uncertain over Rahman’s future though and is desperate to sign a top left-wing-back.
And according to A Bola, Chelsea are once again scouting Telles as an alternative if they fail to sign Juventus left-back Alex Sandro. The Blues, scouted Telles last summer as well as they had repeated bids knocked back for Sandro.
The 25-year-old Brazilian has been fantastic for Porto this season and has made four assists in the league and scored and assisted on in his six Champions League appearances for the club.
And Chelsea have tried to sign Telles in the past, back in 2014, before he ultimately moved to Galatarsay, his agent confirmed recently.
His agent Fernando Otto told Sport Witness:” I believe that maybe one day he will play for Chelsea. I don’t know if it’s going to be this season or the next. But I feel like one day he can play for Chelsea.’
Telles signed for Porto for €6.5m in 2016 from Galatasaray but spent most of his career in Brazil playing for Gremio.
