Guus Hiddink wants contract extensions for Loftus-Cheek and Ivanovic

Chelsea pair Branislav Ivanovic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are currently in talks over new deals at the club.

Interim manager Guus Hiddink has been impressed with the duo since taking over in December and believes they are essential for the club’s future plans.

“I’m aware that the club is talking,” Hiddink said when questioned about the players in his latest press conference.

Ivanovic is one of The Blues’ longest servants and is closing in on his eight year at Stamford Bridge.

Despite being heavily criticised earlier in the season for a number of defensive errors, the Serbian appears to have settled back into the team and wants to remain in London.

The defender has been linked with a number of Italian sides and Milan’s representatives had spoken about a potential deal.

Loftus-Cheek, 19, scored his first Chelsea goal in their 2-0 win over Scunthorpe in the FA Cup third round and the academy product is willing to fight for his spot in the first-team.

It also appears Hiddink could be set for an extension at Chelsea, with bookmakers making him favourite to be manager at the start of next season.
