Blues want a striker and a defender

Chelsea are wanting to sign a defender and a striker in the January transfer window, according to reports.

The Blues are currently sitting 14th in the Premier League table, a staggering 14 points off fourth-placed Manchester United and just two points above the relegation zone.

Despite winning the title a few months ago, Chelsea‘s current run has left Jose Mourinho‘s job in the balance, with some already calling for his head.

However, Roman Abramovich is believed to be sticking by his man, for now, and apparently he is ready to give him funds to make things right in January.

Two Positions Wanted

According to reports, Chelsea will try to lure a defender and a striker to Stamford Bridge in the New Year in the hope that they can fire them up the league in the second-half of the season.

It’s looking likely that the Blues will miss out on Champions League football next year, so attracting a big name may be harder than usual, but Mourinho and Abramovich are ready to throw money at signings.

It’s believed Saido Berahino and Alex Teixeira are the two realistic strikers in mind, while John Stones remains a top-target for defensive reinforcements.

Chelsea failed in numerous attempts to sign Stones over the summer, but they will renew their interest in the hope that Everton will sell this time around.
