Roman Abramovich reluctantly moving on from Pep Guardiola
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is accepting the fact he may not be able to lure Pep Guardiola to Stamford Bridge, and he’s already turned his attentions to other candidates.
Guardiola, who is leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the season, is strongly expected to join Manchester City in the summer, so Abramovich is having to turn his attentions elsewhere.
Diego Simeone from Atletico Madrid has been named, as has Roberto Mancini from Inter Milan, but the latest name is Chile head-coach Jorge Sampaoli.
Chile Success
The 55-year-old manager lead Chile to the Copa America over the summer and is one of the three managers nominated for the Manager of the Year award.
According to reports, both Swansea City and Real Madrid are also monitoring Sampaoli, who could be tempted with a club job after spending several years with Chile.
