Chelsea respond to claims Antonio Conte will be replaced

Chelsea have officially denied all reports that Thomas Tuchel has been identified as a replacement for Antonio Conte.

Reports circulated on Wednesday morning that former Borussia Dortmund manager Tuchel was picked to replace Conte if and when the Italian leaves Stamford Bridge.

German newspaper SportBild is claiming that the German coach, who’s without a job since leaving Dortmund in May 2017, was on a list of Conte successors.

However, Chelsea have since responded, informing a few newspapers that no such moves have been made.

‘Club sources have confirmed to The Independent that there is no succession plan in place for the Italian with Tuchel not a name on their radar,’ they write.

‘Only last week Conte laid out his vision for a long-term plan at Stamford Bridge, but stopped short of committing of being around to finish the job.’
