Chelsea have secured the signing of Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa for a fee estimated around £32million, according to Sky Sources.
The Blues have been monitoring the Spaniard for months now and are desperate to sign a world-class forward in order to challenge for next year’s title and also on the Champions League front.
After finishing third in the Premier League and being eliminated in the Champions League semi-final, Jose Mourinho is keen to add to his side in order to push on next season, and it appears that he has made his move quickly with the Costa deal set to be completed.
Mourinho spent much of the season complaining about his three strikers, Demba Ba, Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o, but if reports are to be believed, he has finally signed the striker he wanted.
Costa has been phenomenal for Madrid all season and has helped guide them to top of the La Liga and also the Champions League final, so Diego Simeone will be sad to see him go, but it appears that a £32million deal has been wrapped up.
According to reports, the formal announcement will be made early June before the World Cup.
