Chelsea are to make a move for Barcelona player Dani Alves in January.
Metro reports that Jose Mourinho has identified Alves as a potential addition to help his side as they push for domestic and European glory.
Alves’ Barcelona contract expires at the end of this season and an extension looks unlikely, with his role in the Barca squad diminishing.
The Brazilian full back, 31, announced earlier this week that he would be moving to England in the next transfer window, describing it as the “cradle of football”.
The full back has been linked with both Liverpool and Manchester United, but Chelsea boss Mourinho has stressed to the Stamford Bridge hierarchy how much he wants Alves and wants the board to have him signed up for when the window opens.
Talks are expected to begin this week between the two clubs.
