Jose Mourinho’s team has enjoyed a stunning start to the 2014/15 campaign. Some are dubbing them the new ‘invincibles’, and it is hard to see where Chelsea will slip up. So why change things?
Well, the enigmatic boss has never been one to stand still, and he is not about to start now. Would Gareth Bale and Marco Reus improve an already excellent squad? It would seem so, and Mourinho seems determined to get them both. Mo Salah and Andre Schurrle could well be moved on in order to make room for the new recruits.
Real Madrid may be open to offers for Bale, and a £90million offer from Chelsea should make them pay attention. A further £25million offer for Reus will match the buy-out clause in his contract with Borussia Dortmund and should secure that deal.
Chelsea appear to be going from strength to strength. They have a powerful group of players in every department. Now widely considered as one of the best squads in Europe, with a salary department with deep pockets, they may well be set to get even stronger.
The rest of the Premier League could be playing ‘catch up’ for some time to come.
