Mourinho reveals transfer plans
Chelsea manager José Mourinho has revealed to Sky Sports that he will be looking to make one further addition to strengthen his squad… However, Mourinho has stated that it wont be Barcelona star Pedro.
Mourinho, who had a £20m offer for Everton defender John Stones rejected on Friday, confirmed that strengthening his defensive options was the clubs priority transfer.
Mourinho has also confirmed that the club will make a fresh bid for the Englishman.
Pedro Ruled Out
When probed about potentially signing Pedro, who has a £22m release clause in his contract, Mourinho replied: “I have five wingers, if I lose one maybe I am interested in another but at this moment I have balance and quality and numbers.
“I am looking for a defender to finish this balance in our squad and after that we are ready to answer anything that can happen to our players.” This would appear to pave the way for Manchester United to activate Pedro’s release clause without competition.
Salah Out
Mourinho also admitted that Mohamed Salah is set to leave the club in the near future.
“I see his future elsewhere,” Mourinho added. “Either on loan or sold with an offer we are happy to accept. We have five wingers and it is better not to have Salah back.”
Chelsea appear to be sticking with what they have rather then spending big alongside the Manchester clubs, which could be down to the club’s major plans to redevelop Stamford Bridge.
