The Blues missed out on signing the powerhouse midfielder last week
Chelsea were reportedly prepared to offer Paul Pogba a contract worth £8.7 million a year to tempt him away from Juventus.
Italian publication Gazetta dello Sport has claimed that the deal was in place had Juve accepted Chelsea’s whopping £62 million bid, plus Oscar in return.
With the Old Lady having lost several key players this summer, including Arturo Vidal, Andrea Pirlo and Carlos Tevez, Pogba was set to become the next man to leave.
Pogba would have been on £180,000 a week at Stamford Bridge
Instead the former Manchester United midfielder rejected Chelsea’s proposals, despite receiving a personal phone call from none other than Jose Mourinho.
L’Equipe reiterated this yesterday, revealing that Pogba had no intention of moving to London.
The French daily added that the 22 year old is more keen on a big money move to either Barcelona or Real Madrid next summer, following Euro 2016 in his native France.
