The draw for the World Cup play-offs was made today, with four places left for Russia 2018 for eight European teams including Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland.
Both teams will be pleased to have avoided Italy and Croatia, with the Republic set to meet Denmark, and Northern Ireland facing Switzerland.
The first legs will be played on 9–11 November, and the second legs will be played on 12–14 November 2017.

Elsewhere in the draw is a tasty looking clash between Sweden and Italy. The two are World Cup regulars and have shared some classic encounters down the years, but only one of them can make it to Russia.
The Azzurri are in danger of missing their first World Cup since 1958 – which was incidentally in Sweden. UEFA will confirm kick-off times in the coming days.
