The in-coming Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, could face a suspended six-month sentence regarding match fixing claims in his native Italy.

Conte’s match fixing allegations surface from May 2011, when he was the manager of the Serie B side, Siena, who had been assured of promotion the league season.

He has subsequently since maintained his innocence of any wrongdoing in Italy, despite being hit with a ten month ban in 2012, which was reduced to four months, when he was in charge of Juventus.

Whilst he was serving his ban, his assistant manager, Massimo Carrera, who is set to join his compatriot at Stamford Bridge next season, stepped in to guide the Turin outfit to a Serie A league title.

There is some  more positive news to come for Conte. The 46-year-old has learned that the prosecution on the case are not looking for a custodial prison sentence, with chief prosecutor  Roberto di Martino explaining to a court in northern Italy that six-month jail sentence, suspended for one year, along with a fine of £6,000 would be more appropriate, if the current Italian national team manager is found guilty of sporting fraud.
