The results of the fourth round of Premier League testing is out – and it seems to be a positive result, and not in terms of the numbers of cases.

There have zero positive Covid-19 cases found in the fourth round of testing, so fans and players can breathe a sigh of relief.

A Premier League statement read: “The Premier League can today confirm that on Thursday 28 May and Friday 29 May, 1130 players and club staff were tested for COVID-19. Of these, zero have tested positive.

“The Premier League is providing this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and transparency. No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided by the League and results will be made public after each round of testing.”

Premier League official Richard Masters also spoke about the testing numbers on Friday with Sky Sports.

“Just seeing players back at the training ground has been a positive.

“The testing programme has been reassuring in the sense that we’ve had 12 positive test out of over 2,700. That seems to be working and is coming back with the numbers we anticipated.

“Also, seeing the Bundesliga having now had three matchdays under their belt is a confidence builder that we will be able to do the same.”

“We are trying to create the safest possible environment with our protocols and testing process,” he added further.

“From the player’s perspective, as fit, young men they are in a very low-risk group and hopefully we have been able to reassure those people.
