Chelsea’s Diego Costa says Radamel Falcao will be a big hit next season

The Spain international believes Falcao just needs affection to bring the best out of him.

Falcao, 29, joined the Premier League champions on a season-long from Monaco after failing to make an impact at Manchester United last season.

However, former Atletico Madrid striker Costa believes the Colombia international is just around the corner from reigniting his career and will prove a massive signing for the Blues.

“Radamel Falcao is a very talented player who just needs a bit of affection, I’ve spent a couple of seasons with him and I reckon things went fairly well.”

“He did a lot for me and he’s a great striker. He’s a top bloke too. He is a really big-hearted guy and that’s the most important thing.

“He is going to get everything he needs and I think he’ll be fine; I suffered an injury similar to his in 2011 and now I’m fine” said Costa.

Costa v Falcao

Falcao failed to put his stamp on the Premier League, scoring four goals in 26 games whereas Costa netted 20 times helping Chelsea to seal the English crown.

However, the Brazil-born Spain international was known for having a short fuse and was demonized by rivals – most notably after copping a three-match ban for stamping on Liverpool’s Emre Can.

“Goals are what count for me. It’s not about a battle with defenders, giving everything and working hard on the field you have to combine with the goals you score.”

“The key for me is to score goals and win trophies, if I change in any way, I’m not going to be the same player” said Costa.
