Both the players have been linked with a summer exit
Both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid won the European trophies last season. Real won their 3rd consecutive Champions League under Zinedine Zidane and Atlectico won the Europa League.
But both the club’s superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Antoinie Griezmann have been heavily linked with a summer exit.
Ronaldo started the season off slowly and was one of the main reasons why the club struggled in the first half of the season. Then the Portuguese picked up his form, scoring 41 goals and assisting 8 in 40 games.
But after winning the Champions League, the 33 year cast doubts over his future by hinting that he could leave the La Liga giants this summer. He suggested that he will discuss about it in the coming days.
Griezmann enjoyed another stellar season with Diego Simeone’s side, scoring 27 goals in all competitions. He helped his team to finish 2nd in the La Liga behind Barcelona and also helped them to win the Europa League.
But the 27 year old has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona this summer. According to reports the club are also prepared to pay his £88 million release clause.
The French International told yesterday that he will announce his future plans by this week, before the World Cup in Russia starts.
La Liga president Javier Tebas believes Cristiano Ronaldo and Antoine Griezmann will stay at their respective clubs this summer and claimed that he is unconcerned about the possibility of both of them leaving.
“I think Cristiano stays at Real Madrid and Antoine Griezmann stays at Atletico,” he told Onda Cero as quoted by Goal.
“Cristiano Ronaldo leaving, out of 10, I’m worried about a five or a four,” he said.
“It wouldn’t be so dramatic for the league. We are becoming more independent of great players.”
