Croatia vs England Form
Croatia Form- Croatia vs England predictions
Both Croatia and England have been in great form so far in the FIFA World Cup 2018. After a nervy start to the knockout rounds against Colombia, they comfortably beat Sweden in the Quarter-Finals. Meanwhile, Croatia surprised everyone after their 3-0 thrashing of Argentina. Croatia’s captain and key player Luka Modric has been one of the stand-out performers of the entire tournament. The Croatians have had to go to penalties in the last two knockout rounds against Denmark and then Russia.
Croatia have arguably, a better midfield than England with players like Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic controlling the games. Meanwhile, England have a rather average midfield with Jordan Henderson, Dele Alli, and Jesse Lingard. However, England do have a much better striker with Harry Kane, who is the leading goal scorer in the World Cup with six goals. Kane is now a shoe-in to win the golden boot award with the second striker with the most goals still in the tournament being Kylian Mbappe with three goals.
England also have a superior defence than Croatia. Harry Maguire, John Stones and Kyle Walker have performed superbly as a back three. Additionally, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford had one of the best goalkeeping performances in the World Cup against Sweden. England have a very young side, with most players under the age of 25-years-old while Croatia have a rather old side. This could be an advantage to England or disadvantage when you consider youth and energy or experience and wisdom.

England Form- Croatia vs England predictions
England form and Predictions
The Three Lions have scored a lot of goals in the World Cup- including a 6-1 drubbing of Panama. However, Croatia are a different beast to teams like Panama and Tunisia. Some would argue also, that England have had a rather easy route to the World Cup semi-final. The Englishmen had teams like Tunisia and Panama in the group stage while also only playing Colombia and Sweden in the knockout rounds. So the English haven’t truly been tested yet by a great footballing team. Colombia forced England through to a penalty shoot-out but that was more down to to bad luck and a lapse of concentration as the South American team were rattling England players with their no-so-friendly tactics.
Croatia have been, at times, superb- but they have also lacked a great goal-scoring striker. However, both teams have scored ten goals so far in the World Cup. England’s Harry Kane has scored six of their ten goals while Croatia have had a mixed bag of goal scorers throughout their team. This game is going to be hard to predict but I would say an England win is inevitable- barring a huge upset. England don’t have great memories of playing Croatia since their shock defeat in the knockout rounds of the qualifying round for the 2008 Euro’s. England lost that game 2-3 and failed to qualify for the Euro 2008 tournament. This was a huge upset. But that was a long time ago and none of the current England players were even in the team back then.

Team News- Croatia vs England predictions
England manager Gareth Southgate will likely play the same team line-up as he did against Sweden. This is despite injury worries over Jordan Henderson who has a hamstring problem. Meanwhile Jamie Vardy is also struggling with a groin injury but both players trained on Tuesday according to the BBC. This means Southgate has all 23 players available to him.
Meanwhile, Croatia are said to be worrying about the fitness of goalkeeper Danijel Subasic and right-back Sime Vrsaljko. Subasic injured his hamstring against Russia in the quarter-final while Vrslljko is struggling with a knee injury.
Croatia vs England predictions
Both of the sides look in great form with Croatia looking more balanced than the young and inexperience England side. But England will have a lot of supporters behind them singing “football is coming home”.
My prediction is that England will win in extra-time with a scoreline of 2-1.
