Sir Kenny Dalglish has praised the decision of signing Jermain Defoe by Rangers manager Steven Gerrard.

The veteran striker has joined the Glasgow giants from Bournemouth on an 18-month loan deal.

Former Liverpool hero and manager Sir Kenny Dalglish has lavished praise on Steven Gerrard for his decision to sign veteran striker and compatriot Jermain Defoe at Rangers on a long-term loan deal. The player has joined the Glasgow giants on an 18-month loan deal as they look to topple the reigning Scottish Premiership champions Celtic and bring the coveted trophy to the Ibrox this season.

Praising the decision of the former Liverpool midfield ace, Dalglish said, “To have captured Jermain Defoe on loan from Bournemouth is brilliant business.”

He added, “He may well want one or two more. But Steven isn’t under pressure to sell and that has to be a positive for him. Jermain may well be 36 and have had a number of clubs during his career, but I’m certain there will still be a hunger and burning desire within him to bring silverware to Ibrox. He will score plenty of goals.”

Defoe himself looks charged up with his new stint as he posted a message to his new boss Gerrard via his social media accounts, which read, “Let’s bring that trophy home, boss…”
