Mexican side Pachuca claim to have turned down an offer from Chelsea for highly-rated winger Jurgen Damm. Back at the start of June, reports began to emerge that the 21-year old was a potential target for the Blues.

Pachuca made it clear that they would be willing to enter talks over a deal but they would have the best interests of the player at heart. The Mexicans are aware of Damm’s talent and they are resigned to losing him, with Man United also previously showing interest after taking him on a two-week trial.

The fact he is also Mexican and German dual nationality makes him appealing to Prem sides, as it means he wouldn’t require a work permit. Pachuca have also stated in the past that they would not let Damm leave before he is ready to make the step up and they have informed Jose Mourinho that they will not let him move at this stage.

Vice-President Andres Fassi said: “I believe that Jurgen has to achieve some important goals in Mexican football. He has to establish himself first, seek the possibility of being in the national team and then, as he is young, there will be opportunities to leave when the time is right.

“We thought that (when Chelsea made the offer) it was not the right moment for him to leave.”
