‘Live in the moment and join a Champions League club’ says Juventus defender

Philippe Coutinho has been urged to leave Liverpool and join Barcelona by Brazil team-mate Dani Alves.

Barcelona are understood to be long-term admirers of Coutinho, while last week it was reported that PSG were preparing a £45million bid for the attacking midfielder.

And Alves, who has left Barcelona after eight trophy-laden seasons, says Coutinho has the ability to shine for the Catalan giants.

“Football is about living the moment,” Alves told Yahoo Esportes. “Liverpool have history but you should consider playing for top Champions League sides.

“He has the quality to play for Barcelona.”

Liverpool would be loathe to losing Coutinho, and while there is no suggestion the 23-year-old wants to move, the former Inter Milan player is likely to become frustrated unless the Reds can return to glory under Jurgen Klopp.

Last week, Coutinho, who is currently on international duty with Brazil, is quoted as saying: “I miss winning cups.

“Copa America is another opportunity for me, because every player dreams of winning cups.”
