Rugani says Higuain would be a perfect fit for Chelsea

Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani has stated that Gonzalo Higuain is the perfect striker for Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.

Higuain has been mooted for a reunion with his former Napoli manager Sarri at Stamford Bridge and it looks like the Blues have finally got their hands on the Argentine talisman, with reports in Italy claiming that the 31-year-old is set for a medical tomorrow.

Higuain was loaned out to Milan at the start of the season following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at Turin and the Rossoneri had the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season. However, a return of just 6 goals in 15 Serie A outings hasn’t pleased manager Gennaro Gattuso, who reportedly dropped the 31-year-old from the club’s trip to Genoa on Monday.

And Rugani, who scored the final goal in Juventus’s 3-0 win over Chievo, gave Chelsea a boost, saying that Higuain would be the ideal man to solve their No.9 woes.

Rugani spoke to Sky Sport after the Juve-Chievo game: ‘ We did well tonight, I am happy for the three points and the goal.

When asked about his lack of game time in the Serie A this season, Rugani said, “Game time? I believe that if you work hard, you will get your chance. I don’t like to talk, I like to respond on the pitch. I always wait for my moment and I always try to help the team out when called upon.”

Rugani was also positive about Higuain’s move to Chelsea, pointing to the 2015-16 season where the 31-year-old netted 36 goals for Napoli under Sarri.

“Higuain-Sarri? Higuain really did well under Sarri and he is a great finisher. Good luck to him.”
