Belgian sent City through to semi-finals last night

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is desperate for more Champions League success this season.

The Belgian forward fired City into the semi-finals last night with a belter of a goal vs Paris Saint Germain, giving them a 3-2 aggregate win in the quarter-finals.

They’re set to have some world-class company in the semis, with Real Madrid already through, and Barcelona and Bayern Munich in healthy positions to make it when they play tonight.

De Bruyne said: ‘I think it is huge. Everybody has talked about the Champions League and to be in the semi-finals is a great achievement.

‘But it is not done yet. We are looking forward to the semis. It is only two games away from the final. We will try to do everything to reach the final.’

‘I think it was a very good performance and we deserved to go through. I think the whole team played a good game.

‘It feels very good. It was a very important goal and after the 1-0 I think we controlled the game and thought we could score one more.

‘We put a lot of pressure on PSG and even after the missed penalty we played well. PSG didn’t create a lot of chances, so well done to the defenders.’

City went into the game holding the slight advantage of two away goals after last week’s 2-2 draw at the Parc des Princes. However, they controlled the majority of the first half, with Sergio Aguero missing a penalty, and despite pressure from PSG in the second, the French champions seemed to lack fitness in the last 15 minutes, paving the way for City to score and get themselves through.
