Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy has revealed his desire to return to French club Lille.

Debuchy spent much of his early career at the Ligue 1 club, joining their academy in 1993, then spending almost a decade in their first-team squad.

He joined Newcastle United in 2013, before signing for Arsenal for ÂŁ12m.

He arrived last summer, but has been limited to just ten Premier League appearances this season.

He seems content to see out his contract in North London, despite saying he would like a move back to where his career started.

Debuchy told La Voix des Sports: “I still have three and a half years contract at Arsenal, but to finish my career at Lille, that’s my goal.

“But we do not know what can happen, that will be for the head of LOSC to decide, which coach, we do not know.

“But it is an important club for me and I would love to finish my career there.”
