Real Madrid are preparing to ask Manchester United to swap Angel Di Maria for Gareth Bale.
Di Maria only arrived at United from the Bernabeu at the end of the transfer window this summer for a British record £60M.
Real bosses are thought to be concerned with Bale’s tactical discipline, or rather the lack of it.
The Red Devils have been chasing Bale for some time, and Madrid could use him as leverage to acquire their former star Di Maria.
It is claimed that Ancelotti wanted Bale to play wide in midfield in a 4-4-2 formation after coming on for James Rodriguez but the 25-year-old’s attacking impulses saw him more often playing next to Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in what amounted to a 4-3-3.
United were rumoured to be preparing a £90M world record deal to bring Bale to the club. But Real chasing Di Maria could bring the cost down.
Real manager Carlo Ancelotti remains a big fan of Di Maria, and would not stand in Bale’s way should he wish to return to the Premier League.
