Diego Costa is set to join Chelsea and the deal is expected to be completed this week.
The Spanish international has been a long-term target of Jose Mourinho’s and the Chelsea boss will be very pleased to finally sign the striker.
The transfer is most likely going to be the biggest signing Chelsea will make this summer, due to fears of missing the mark on their financial targets.
Owner Roman Abromovich wants the singing to be completed and is keen to see the club continue on their pursuit of recruiting more big players this summer, but is making sure the club doesn’t breach the new Financial Fair Play rules.
The arrival of Diego Costa will also see Torres leave the club, with the former Liverpool striker a target of Valencia. The La Liga side, who finished 8th in La Liga last season, have recently been bought by Singaporean billionaire Peter Lim, and the club are ready to splash the cash this summer. Torres and Manchester United striker, Javier Hernandez, are at the top of the Spanish side’s shortlist, and according to some reports, they are very keen.
Meanwhile, Senegalese striker, Demba Ba, is a target of Turkish side, Besiktas. Besiktas board member, Deniz Atalay, has insisted the club are very keen on signing the 29-year-old. Atalay said: “We have been linked with a lot of players but the only player we are interested in right now is Demba Ba.
“We have made an enquiry for Ba however, Chelsea have not decided whether they want to keep hold of him next season.
