Chelsea striker, Fernando Torres, will not be returning to former-club, Atletico Madrid, according to manager, Diego Simeone.
The Spaniard, who is currently on a two-year loan deal with Italian side, AC Milan, will be a free agent once his loan move expires due to his contract ending at Stamford Bridge, and there were small talks that he could return to the place where he made his name.
However, Simeone has quickly dismissed the speculation linking the striker with a return to Atletico, after rejecting the chance to sign him.
Atletico’s director general, Miguel Angel Gil Marin, has revealed that the club were looking at Torres over the Summer, but it was Simeone who refused to put through any potential deal.
He said: “We studied the option of a return for Fernando Torres when he was at Chelsea this past summer, but coach Simeone decided against the move. That negotiation did not progress and he is now in Milan.”
