German youngster to spend season at Hawthorns

West Bromwich Albion Football Club have announced the signing of Serge Gnabry on a season-long loan from Arsenal.

The German youngster was on the fringes of the first-team for the past two seasons, but due to injuries last year, he failed to break into the starting XI on a regular basis.

Due to injuries, Gnabry‘s development stalled and he Arsene Wenger believes he now needs game-time regularly and that’s why he sent him to The Hawthorns.

The 20-year-old underwent a medical earlier this week, but the deal was only announced this afternoon (Friday).

After the deal was formally announced, Gnabry spoke to the club’s official website about the move and the 2015/2016 campaign.

Player Statement

“I’m very delighted by the move,” said Gnabry, who is a Germany Under-21 international.

“I see the opportunity that I can play, it’s a good club and I’ve heard good things.

“I’m very happy that I’ve signed here. I’ve got good impressions and I feel it’s a good environment for me to play and also develop as a player.”

Club Statement

Manager Tony Pulis was also happy about securing the season-long loan.

He added: “We’re delighted to add Serge to our options.

“He is a top player and he will bring us quality in certain areas of the pitch.”
