Arsenal and Manchester United will have to pay £47 million if they are to sign German World Cup winner Mats Hummels.

Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has faced a bombardment of questions on Hummels’ future, and this development clearly tells both clubs to pay the fee or you won’t get your man.

Hummels was heavily linked with United in the summer and has been a long term target of Arsene Wenger’s.

However the likelihood of Hummels moving in January is very low.

Wenger is said to only have around £20 million to spend, whilst Manchester United have no Champions League football to offer, although they clearly have the money.

Dortmund might be struggling in the Bundesliga but look in pole position to qualify first in their Champions League group, above Arsenal.

Hummels contract runs out in the summer of 2017, but he doesn’t have a release clause like team-mate Marco Reus, making a deal the more unlikely.
