Juventus winger Douglas Costa believes that Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus to better his stature in world football. Ronaldo joined Juventus from Real Madrid at a fee of €100 million. Ronaldo will be paid an estimated £500,000 a week. Juventus are hoping that Ronaldo can end their 22-year Champions League drought.

Douglas Costa thinks that after excelling in the Premier League and La Liga, the 33-year old also wants to showcase his talent in Serie A. Costa said, “I think Ronaldo was already at a high level but he really wanted to take another step to enhance his status. I think CR7 has everything to take us to the next level and do important things this season.”

“Ronaldo is a really important player, but we also have [Paolo] Dybala and other important players. I’ve played with Neymar, so it’s not totally new for me to play with someone at [Ronaldo’s] level. Everyone has welcomed him and we know how much he can improve us. We can’t hide it, it’s clear.”

Ronaldo will make his competitive debut for Juventus in the club’s Premier League opener against Chievo on 18th August.
