Emery says Arsenal must balance their home and away form

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has urged his team to find the right balance, acknowledging that there is a massive difference in the team’s performances in the home and away fixtures this season.

The Gunners strung together an impressive unbeaten run of 22 games in all competitions which was eventually ended by Southampton last month and they have since lacked the same level of consistency, losing to Liverpool and West Ham in recent weeks.

Despite all their inconsistencies this season, Arsenal have a wonderful record at home, with Man City being the only team to have won 2-0 on the opening day of the season. The Gunners were under pressure to bounce back against Chelsea at home and first-half goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Laurent Koscielny made sure that Unai Emery’s side closed the gap on the Blues to just three points, keeping themselves alive in the top-four race.

Arsenal put up an energetic display against Chelsea and Emery has urged his team to take the positives from the victory into the upcoming fixtures.

“We wanted to win for our supporters and also to do a special moment in his match against Chelsea in a derby,” Emery told BT Sport.

“The difference in the table was six points and this victory can help us to be optimists. It is difficult to continue in this way, but we can be happy and do our way game by game like today.

“We need to find the balance at home and away because at home we are very strong. We showed every supporter our strong moments here.

“But away we need to find this balance. The difference from the last match is a complete difference.

“I want to say to everybody that we are going to be ready to find this balance.”
