He opted to join Manchester City ahead of Blues

Young Turkish forward Enes Unal has revealed that he was offered a deal by Chelsea this summer, but instead opted to join Premier League rivals Manchester City.

The 18 year-old signed a long-term deal at the Etihad in July after signing for ÂŁ2million from Bursaspor, and has already been loaned out to Belgian side Genk by boss Manuel Pellegrini.

He’s already featured with the City first team, making three pre-season appearances during the club’s tour to Australia.

Unal, who will remain on loan for two seasons in Belgium, revealed that it was City’s desire to sign him ahead of Jose Mourinho‘s side which swayed his decision to choose Manchester over London.

Chelsea Wanted Me

“One of the other teams that wanted me was Chelsea.

“I decided to join Manchester City because they had shown more interest and were really keen in bringing me in.

“City have been investing in their youngsters and have great projects for the future which also swayed me.”
