Roy Hodgson defended England’s performance on Tuesday night away at Ukraine, but just two days later, it was released that they are ranked 17th in the Fifa World Rankings, which is their lowest ranking since 2001.
A bore 0-0 draw was a good result as a whole for England as their World Cup qualification is now in their hands, but their dull and negative manner in Ukraine let down many of the England faithful, including Gary Linekar, who tweeted about how poor the team played.
The shock of being ranked 17th comes just a year after they were surprisingly ranked third in the world, only behind Spain and Germany, but now, they are sitting behind the likes of; Colombia, United States and Chile.
The rankings are affected by results each country picks up, and unfortunately for England, in just a year, they have slipped from third in the world to 17th.
