They will be very disappointed with this

England’s assistant manager, Ray Lewington, has accidentally leaked the Three Lions’ tactics for the up and coming European Championships.

Lewington was pictured holding a clipboard whilst taking a walk with England manager Roy Hodgson in France on Tuesday.

The clipboard briefly showed how England would line-up against Russia on Saturday, as well as showing the pecking order in team selection.

Captain Wayne Rooney is listed in a central midfield role alongside Dele Alli, with Jack Wilshere and ‘Milly’ (James Milner) written underneath.

Ross Barkley is down as a right-winger, with Raheem Sterling listed on the opposite flank. Jordan Henderson’s name also appears.

Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy are the two starting strikers, which leaves Daniel Sturridge and Marcus Rashford on the bench. This possibly means Hodgson will start with the 4-4-2 diamond formation that they have previously used.

Disappointment

The FA have worked tirelessly to keep England’s training base in Chantilly extremely private.

A nine-foot tall privacy screen has even been built out of blue tarpaulin in order to prevent unauthorised personnel from watching England’s training sessions.
