Lisandro Martinez’s injury doesn’t look good admits Erik ten Hag.

The Argentine defender limped off in the second-half after a collision with Vladimir Coufal and injured his right knee.

Martinez missed four months of Premier League action after suffering a foot injury in September.

The game against West Ham United was the defender’s third Premier League appearance after a long injury lay-off.

Erik ten Hag would be concerned with Lisandro’s third absence over the past 10 months and would want to defender to return as soon as possible.

The United medical staff will assess the defender’s injury and fans will be hoping that this injury doesn’t keep Martinez on the sidelines for an extended period.

Ten Hag told club media: “I can’t tell the detail but it seems bad. We have to wait for the detail and making the right diagnosis in the coming days. We’ll see what is going on. In this moment, we’re very sad about this but, hopefully, it’s not too bad. We can only pray.

“We have to find out in the next days what is the diagnosis. It’s very bad for him and very bad for the team. He’s just returning and is a very important part for us. It looks like he has to sit some games out injured again but let’s stay positive at this moment. Hopefully, it’s not too bad but we have to wait.”
