Could he be the next Three Lions boss?

According to Sky Sports News HQ, Sunderland have given permission to manager Sam Allardyce to speak to the Football Assocation over the vacant England manager’s job.

The 61-year old has emerged as the favourite for the post over the coming days, despite speculation that USA chief Jurgen Klinsmann had been approached by the FA.

However, Allardyce has reportedly held talks with English football’s governing body, after being pictured leaving the FA vice-chairman David Gill’s home.

The head coach role has been vacant since Roy Hodgson resigned following England’s embarrassing Euro 2016 exit at the hands of Iceland late last month.
