Patrick Bamford has agreed to sign a new three-year contract with Chelsea

The Blues announced the England U-21 international would spend next season on loan at Crystal Palace.

Bamford spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough, where he scored 19 goals and was voted Championship Player of the Year.

The 21-year-old was delighted to secure his long-term future at Stamford Bridge and thanked the club for aiding his development.

“I’m delighted to sign a new contract with Chelsea. My dream has always been to be part of this club for the long term.

“Chelsea have been fantastic with my development and joining Crystal Palace for this season on loan is the next step for me in my career.

“When I met with manager Alan Pardew, he put forward his plans and it was an easy decision. I like to get in behind the defence.

“I would say I am deceptively quick, but I am sure they will make their own minds up.” said Bamford.

Previous loan spells

Chelsea signed Bamford from Nottingham Forest for ÂŁ1.2millon back in 2012, before sending him out on to loan to several clubs.

He first joined up with Karl Robinson at Milton Keynes Dons during the 2012-13 season, where he finished as the club’s top scorer, netting 18 times in 37 games.

The following season would see the Lincolnshire-born forward sample the Championship for the first time as he joined Derby County, where he scored 8 goals in 21 games.

Finally, he spent last season on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough and found the back of the net 17 times during his 39 appearances for the North Yorkshire club.
