Danny Ings should replace Harry Kane if he decides to leave in the summer.

The 27-year old England captain recently expressed his desire to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

He is seeking a new challenge as a result of Tottenham’s lack of silverware.

Kane’s departure would leave an enormous dent in the squad but his transfer money would help the team reshape their attack with three to four promising additions.

Redknapp told talkSPORT: “Are you going to take a gamble? Are you going to go for someone like the lad at Brentford?

“There is no guarantee he can score at the top level. There are not an awful lot of [available] centre-forwards. Jamie Vardy is at Leicester, he’s not going to move, who is there that you could take to Tottenham and fill Harry Kane’s boots?

“Danny Ings is a good player, I love him. He’s a good goalscorer. I’m not being disrespectful to Danny, as good as he is, he isn’t Harry Kane.

“So you’re not going to strengthen the team by bringing him in, there is no one you can bring in who will strengthen the team.

“They could go out and spend the money, get three or four good players in different positions, get another central defender, maybe get another frontman, get the best out of Dele Alli, get him back playing the way we know he can.

“Get three or four players that will strengthen the team in several positions.”
