Reds owners want to tie down German manager

Liverpool want to offer Jurgen Klopp a new long-term deal at Anfield.

Klopp was only appointed as manager at the club last October, but an overall successful spell has meant club owners Fenway Sports Group want to give him a contract extension already.

Despite finishing 8th in the league, Klopp guided Liverpool to 2 finals, including the club’s first European Final for 9 years.

Any new deal would not necessarily involve fresh terms over payment.

Klopp is already in the top bracket of earners because of his status and past achievements, having guided Borussia Dortmund to two German titles and a Champions League final before his move to Anfield.

Klopp has already made a handful of signings as Reds boss as he prepares for the new season, strengthening in all areas of the pitch. He’s signed a new number 1, Loris Karius, from German club Mainz. In the back 4, he signed Joel Matip from Schalke in January, and the defender has now joined up with the squad. In midfield Klopp has made the addition of Marko Grujic, a young player from Red Star Belgrade who was recently granted his work permit. And finally, Liverpool’s ‘marquee’ signing of the summer so far is the £30million transfer of Sadio Mane, from Southampton, who can play anywhere in an attacking position.
