‘Mourinho needs to stop complaining about fixture pile-up’ claims Ajax boss

Jose Mourinho’s complaints about the fixture congestion at the end of Manchester United’s season have come under fire from an upcoming adversary.

Ajax coach Peter Bosz comes up against Mourinho’s United side in the Europa League Final in Stockholm on 24 May.

United will have played three Premier League games between the semis’ second legs and the final, with their last domestic fixture just three days before the clash with Ajax. In contrast, the Amsterdam side will have only played once in the same period and had 10 days’ rest before facing Mourinho’s men. The Final will also be United’s 61st game of the season, compared to 53 games for the Dutch side.

Bosz played down Mourinho’s moaning, and Ajax, on their website, branded the Portuguese the ‘master of mind games’.

“If I only look at his line-ups and team formations all season, then he is playing with almost two different teams, one team for the Europa League and one for the Premier League.” Bosz said.

“If those boys, which he is using for his European games, are not playing at the weekend in the Premier League, they have as much rest and exactly the same preparation time as my players, and look at the amount of players he has available to rotate.”

Bosz added that his youthful side, which has won plaudits for their style of play, and containing as many as nine players under the age of 21, are geared up for the Swedish encounter.

“If I say that this is going to be a normal game now, people will laugh because it really isn’t a normal game anymore.” he added.

“But my Ajax boys, no matter how young they are, won’t be afraid. They have played massive games this season. Come and see a game against Feyenoord. Look what we did against Schalke in the Euro Quarter-Final. All that experience we will take to Stockholm.”
