Sporting Lisbon boss responds to Manchester United speculation

Ruben Amorim is supposed to replace Erik ten Hag at Man United.

Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim has been on the radar of Manchester United as per the rumours. Now, the Leoes coach admits he wants to refrain from becoming involved in any talk regarding Man United.

Ruben Amorim has guided his side to the 2020-21 Primeira Liga title. He is now on the radar of top European clubs. The 38-year-old is now targeting the title after finishing in fourth position in 2022-23.

Sporting Lisbon are currently three points clear of Benfica and Porto. Erik ten Hag is struggling at Manchester United, and there are some rumours that the club will sack him this season.

Man United have seen eight defeats in 15 games this season across all competitions. They failed to retain the EFL Cup trophy after fourth round exit to Newcastle.

While talking to reporters, as quoted by the Daily Mail, Amorim admitted: “This year I’m not going to go back to the same conversation as last year.

“I’m not going to make any kind of comment on these situations. We don’t know the future, it depends on the results.

He added: “Regarding the future, I have an idea for the end of the season but I won’t say it now. But the results and the context take us to something different.

“I don’t want to be commenting on these things. I have not been contacted by Manchester United.”
