Douglas Luiz is again back on Arsenal’s radar this January.
The Gunners are reportedly interested in adding another midfielder to their ranks this January and reignited their interest in Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.
The 25-year-old midfielder is considered a player who could add some depth to Arsenal’s midfield ranks.
With Thomas Partey expected to leave Emirates at the end of this season, Arsenal have identified the Brazilian midfielder as a perfect replacement.
Mikel Arteta has known the midfielder since his days as an assistant at Manchester City but Luiz could not play due to work permit issues.
But the 25-year-old himself wants to continue at Aston Villa and help them qualify for the Champions League next season.
Club legend Paul Merson has high praises for the Brazilian midfielder and understands why Arsenal are out to get him.
“As I said last week, Douglas Luiz is the most underrated midfielder in the Premier League currently,” said Merson.
“The lad can do it all and shows up every week; it’s not hard to see why Arsenal wanted him earlier this year.”
