Harry Winks reveals he has been playing through ankle pain

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks has revealed that he has been playing through ankle pain for the club for the past few months now.

The youngster has made 33 appearances in all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino’s men this season, and has played every single minute of the previous eight league games.

The 23-year-old was forced to undergo a corrective surgery in his ankle at the back end of last season and got fit to feature from the beginning of this campaign.

But he has said that the pain is persistent in his ankle, yet he is going to play for the club and keep giving 100% for the team.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Winks said: “Yeah, I have niggles in my ankle which I’m managing to play with.

“I have managed to somehow put that to the back of my mind. I try not worry or overthink it too much.

“This season has been fantastic. I set some aims — just to play as many games as possible and stay fit all season.

“So far, so good. I’ve played a lot of matches and, fingers crossed, I will stay injury-free.”

Tottenham have a home game against Leicester at the weekend to look forward to. Then Borussia Dortmund come to town for the first leg of the last-16 tie in the Champions League.
