Tottenham Hotspur considering a move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
The North London giants are interested in signing the 23-year-old who was close to leaving Stamford Bridge in the summer window.
He featured in 45 competitive matches during his first campaign with the Blues, chipping in with three goals and one assist.
Gallagher has continued to impress under manager Mauricio Pochettino starting in 19 of his 20 appearances this season.
The England international has been named as the club captain in the absence of Reece James.
There have been reports of him leaving this January with Tottenham plotting a move for the 23-year-old midfielder.
But Pochettino will be reluctant to sell the midfielder which could cause problems between the manager and the club.
Journalist Paul Brown said: “I think it was always an upstairs decision to dangle Gallagher’s name out there. He didn’t want to leave. The manager doesn’t want him to leave.
“The fact that he was given the armband shows just how much trust the manager has in him.
“So it’s hard to see Gallagher going. If he is sold for whatever reason, I think it would be against his will. I think that would cause problems with Pochettino. So I’m 100% sure that the manager does not want Gallagher to leave Chelsea.”
