Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte says record-breaker Harry Kane is ‘starting to understand’ his role
Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte praised striker Harry Kane following his team’s 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion (h/t Evening Standard), adding the player is only just getting to know his teammates.
The attacker extended his current hot streak in the Premier League, scoring past the Seagulls in the second half to secure the win and send him back to north London pleased.
Conte stated that Kane appeared to be enjoying himself while playing with his teammates as well as the way the squad was playing, with the Englishman’s presence on the field making them stronger.
Harry Kane has surpassed Wayne Rooney’s Premier League record for most away goals. Kane accomplished the feat after being passed in behind by Rodrigo Bentancur, and then masterfully finished the move with a clinical bottom corner strike.
The goal brings him to 95 goals in 139 games, 104 less than now-second-placed Wayne Rooney.
Tottenham Hotspur pulled to within two points of fifth-placed Manchester United after defeating Brighton at the AMEX Stadium.
Spurs’ response to last week’s setback to Manchester United at Old Trafford was ideal.
They presently trail the Red Devils by two points and have a game in hand.
Meanwhile, the Seagulls have now dropped six consecutive Premier League games.
