The Catalan boss has convinced the board to make a move for the young midfielder who has been established as one of the brightest talents in world football.
His deal with Nice expires in the summer of 2025 but the French club won’t part ways with him in January.
He is the son of legendary Frech defender Lilian Thuram and has come leaps and bounds in the last few years to mark his name in the sport.
Thuram mainly plays in the middle of the pitch, a position where Mateo Kovačić and Matheus Nunes has mainly operated this season.
He can also deploy as a defensive midfielder and Pep Guardiola might consider him if Kalvin Phillips decides to leave in January.
Man City has joined the race along with Liverpool for the 22-year-old midfielder who has chipped in eight goals and 11 assists for the French side.
The versatile midfielder could develop into a world-class player under the wings of Pep Guardiola but City needs to fend off competition from other elite clubs for his signature.
